THE OUTSIDERS OSHC

The Outsiders Play Advocates (TOPA) is dedicated to providing a community based and playwork inspired OSHC option for schools who need to, or wish to, outsource the running of their Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) program. We aim to reduce the gap or disconnect between privately owned OSHC’s and school communities so that a more open, communicative and supportive environment is created, an environment where children can thrive through their early school years. At the same time, we hope to give children the greatest and widest opportunities for play that we can afford.

TOPA, as it would suggest in our name, value play, and focus on providing endless opportunities for children in our care. We see our role as to provide a space where children can explore, find safety, create, challenge themselves, grow, learn, overcome frustration, develop resilience through intrinsically motivated, personally directed and free chosen play. TOPA will provide highly trained and knowledgeable staff to help support children in the creation of a space that is for them, and therefore can act as a second home.

To the Flinders community…

At The Outsiders OSHC, we are passionate about creating welcoming, engaging and child-led environments where children feel safe, valued and inspired to play, explore and connect. Our programs are built around playwork principles, giving children opportunities for creativity, independence, adventure and meaningful relationships throughout their time in care.

Over the coming weeks, we will share further information to help make the transition as smooth and stress-free as possible for families. Important dates include:

We are already working closely with the College and are incredibly grateful for the warm welcome we have received from both staff and families. Our goal is to build strong partnerships with families from the very beginning. We are genuinely excited to become part of the Flinders community and cannot wait to learn alongside your children, support their interests, and create a fun, inclusive and engaging OSHC environment together.

TESTIMONIALS

Barb Farley. Head of Junior School Redlands College

“The Outsiders have been organising our OSHC program since the beginning of January 2023. The program has grown in this time due to the well-structured and exciting program. The children in the program thoroughly enjoy their experiences and parents are thrilled to know their children are engaged in such worthwhile activities whilst being well cared for and supported.  The Outsiders work closely with the school to maintain our school culture and standards. Thank you, Outsiders.”
